Project #2 was conducted this weekend. A little sanding, spray paint and drying time, and the ugly gold finish turned blue (to give a little GV love in the apartment). Next on the list of projects is to give these lamps new shades with a nautical theme!

Project 1
This past weekend I took on my first project for the apartment. I had received two side tables from an aunt a few months back, with the intention to fix up. With two weeks left until I head back to school, I began sanding and painting both tables. I chose a stone grey spray paint to cover up the old brown oak color. Keeping the tables more of a neutral tone, I can add other bolder colors to pop against it. The whole process took a little over an hour for both tables; I used an electric sander to remove the original gloss coating and give something for the new spray paint to hold onto; then I gave the tables a good first coat of spray paint, making sure I didn't "over spray" any areas, leaving a big goop spot; I then let them both sit in the garage overnight; the next day, I gave the tables a second and final coat, covering any spots that I had missed. I used, and 100% recommend Rustoleum 2x spray paint, for any big projects you have. It already has the primer in it and sprays on really well. Photos of the tables in the apartment will be up soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Introduction
Hey Ya'll, I'm Katie- your typical college chick, with a little bit of creativity on my side! I'm here to brighten your day with a glob of paint and a pinch of inspiration! There's nothing that bugs me more than a bare, off-colored white wall and some worn out furniture. I've made it my mission to color mine, and my roommates, world this year in our on-campus apartment. But, before I invite you on this journey with me, you should probably get to know me, just a tad.
Well, like I mentioned before, I'm Katie; a junior at Grand Valley State University, majoring in Exercise Science. My goal is to become a certified nutritionist, specializing in diabetic nutrition. Always studying "science related" material, I turn to my artistic side to escape from reality. Whether it's painting an inspirational quote on canvas, making some simple arts and crafts, or bee-bopping around town with my camera; if I'm not studying, I'm creating something good. Now, since you know a little more about me, I'd like to invite you to join me on this year long journey of art-if-ying my life.
